School of Biblical Foundations

The School of Biblical Foundations, as part of our Sunday morning Bible hour schedule, is simply a recurring, core curriculum composed of courses one might encounter at any evangelical seminary. Consequently, you will find classes in Systematic and Biblical Theology, Old and New Testament Survey, Church History, Apologetics, and Spiritual Disciplines – imposing labels; and while not presented with either the depth or accountability of a seminary environment, they nonetheless offer solid Bible content that will provide firm foundations for our faith. Old and New Testament expositional book studies are also offered each semester as are studies of the Devotional Classics from authors like Tozer, Bunyan, Ryle, Fenelon, A’Kempis, William Law, to name a few.

The School of Biblical Foundations was born out of a desire for church leadership to become proactively involved in the teaching ministries of Grace Baptist. This desire was seen as ultimately involving both elders and pastoral staff in the teaching process as well as producing a responsible filter for all teaching materials.

The School of Biblical Foundations is an effort to address at the local church level the theological degeneration we sadly recognize in the evangelical church at large. It is our desire to be purposeful in presenting orthodox theological foundations to those whom God brings through our doors. The twin pillars upon which we hope to grow are our knowledge of God and the authentic application of that knowledge to every sphere of life. In Christ’s man, the one does not exist without the other. We cannot expect God’s truth to transform us without our first knowing it, or perhaps more accurately, knowing Him.

…Him [Christ] we proclaim…that we may present everyone mature in Christ (Col. 1:28)

.…hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught…give instruction in sound doctrine…rebuke those who contradict it (Tit. 1:9).

And He gave…teachers, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the fullness of Christ…(Eph. 4:11-13)

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths (2Tim. 4:3-4)

We entrust into His hands the results of our own desire to help lay unshakable foundations of the faith.

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude :24-25)
