Extending the Story
Many continue to respond to the request I issued in my message on January 3 to host a meal-a-month for someone you bring home from church. If you'd like to share your experience either in extending or receiving hospitality, tap out an email to me and I'll try to include it in this blog series called "Hospitality Tales."
We added six to our table yesterday. I know I enjoyed the time and that seemed to be the opinion of all present. Here are some observations as I reflect on yesterday.
- Hospitality is hard work but more than worth it.
- Guests enjoy helping get ready. It's ok to give them a job.
- Having a variety of ages and backgrounds at the table adds to the joy.
- A brief time of worship is a fitting and meaningful climax to the meal. Read, sing, and pray. Make it sweet and simple just like a great dessert!
- Serving others together as a family is a great blessing.
Since February is our missions month, let's think creatively about how to weave the theme into our hospitatlity time this month.
