THE GRACE PULPIT
In an age of varied and sophisticated methods of communication, is preaching still legitimate?

In 1870, John Broadus, a theologian and seminary professor, made a claim that remains valid in the beginning years of the 21st century: "In every age of Christianity, since John the Baptist drew crowds in the desert, there has been no great religious movement, no restoration of Scripture truth, and reanimation of genuine piety, without new power in preaching, both as cause and effect."

If we hope to see genuine revival and reformation, there must be a return of power to the pulpit. Spirit-anointed preaching is the great need of the day. Grace Baptist Church strives to make it a priority in our church. We pray for those whose job it is to fulfill the holy calling of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Spirit. May God grant us a revival of true preaching.

“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”

-2 Timothy 4:1-2
