Director of Worship and Music

Grace Baptist Church of Manhattan, Kansas is seeking a full time staff member to lead both our contemporary and traditional services. The person selected for this position should be an energetic team player, innovator and initiator, with a deep personal faith in Christ and a calling to reach out to the community. This person should have a sincere heart to worship God, lead others in worship, and encourage the use of music as a tool to disciple others throughout the church's ministry. This person should be respected as a gifted musician with the ability to recognize, lead, and develop musical abilities and talents. In addition, this person should extend spiritual care to volunteers serving in worship and music ministries as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

1. Work with the pastor and worship teams to coordinate worship planning
2. Develop leadership or lead and recruit for praise teams, choirs, ensembles, orchestra, children's choirs, and other musical presentations
3. Direct teams for sound, light, and audio/visual media production; and ensure the proper care and accountability of all resources assigned to the worship committee
4. Prepare and oversee the worship budget (in conjunction with the worship committee)

Qualifications:

1. Person who pursues the heart of God in personal worship
2. Music degree or related major desired (e.g., music education, theory, composition, performance). Biblical or seminary degree would be preferred
3. Music ministry experience and strong spiritual leadership desired. Choral conducting and worship leading experience preferred
4. Ability to recruit and train musicians, vocalists and worship leaders who will be involved in worship throughout the church
5. Ability to lead and draw people into joyful corporate worship
6. Excellence in worship leading and knowledge of instruments and vocals
7. Appreciation for, and ability to lead varied styles of music and relate to all generational groups
8. Good interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
9. Ability to recruit, inspire, and motivate volunteer staff
